Mason's amazing reading

This is a video of Mason reading his new book.  He was very excited to hear and see how much he has improved since he started at our school in the middle of this term.  He now will point to each word as he is reading, he now knows lots of his letter sounds, and is now able to use them when he is reading, and he also self corrects himself.

Mason, Mrs Stevenson and I are SOOOOOOOO proud of all you have achieved in such a short space of time.  Keep up the fantastic work.

Well done also, to the support crew at home who have helped Mason to practice and talk about his learning when he gets home.  You guys are amazing.  We hope you enjoy this little clip, of your little man.

Certificate winners in Week 11 Term 1 2016

Below are the winners of Room 5 & 6's certificate winners this week.  We had a number of students who got certificates for excellence in attendance.  Well done, this attendance is what has been helping you reach your learning goals this term.  All of you have made such fantastic progress in all areas.  Mrs Stevenson and I can't wait to see what you can achieve next term!

We are 'World Famous!'

Today we had a special visitor, so we decided to have a quick assembly in Room 2.  He talked to us about how we are 'world famous' and 'world leaders' with the use of our iPads and Chrome books.  We thought this was really exciting as we know we are learning lots with our iPads and enjoy sharing our learning with others.
Mrs C also gave our some certificates to some of our class who have been working on Lexia and who have moved up a level.

Duffy Assembly

Today we had our schools Duffy Assembly.  Mollie and Jake had to collect their books from the visiting musician who came to present this terms books.  He played us some cool songs on his phone and sang for us too.    He was very inspiring and we enjoyed meeting him.

At the end of the day we all got 2 books, so, we will have some great reading to do over the holidays.  Mrs G said she wanted to borrow lots of our books for the holidays but we all were keen to take them home to share with our families.  Mrs G made us a deal that we should email her photos of us reading our books in the holidays.

Ngarino and Teziah learning to share.

Here are a few photos of Ngarino and Teziah learning to share and enjoying learning alongside each other without Teacher Aide and Teacher support.  Well done guys, these are great skills to learn.

Athletics - High Jump

Today Gina from Project Energize came to our school again.  We work on how to jump in different ways.

  • We learn't about how to Jump with 2 feet together and how we needed to bend our knees, hold our hands behind us and spring up, using our arms, to help us propel us upwards.
  • We also learn't about how to do a scissor kick.  Here are some photos of Room 6 having fun with their learning.

ENJOY!

Concrete Making

We had a concrete truck come to school to make a new paths for us.  One was outside our classroom.  We asked that if there was any left over that we could use it.  Here we are with our containers of concrete.  We are hoping that we can use them in the Junior gardens when they have finished drying.

Our concrete paths look fantastic.  Taylor also took videos and other photos of the concrete being poured.  Hopefully he will turn it into a movie shortly that we can share.
