So far this term we have spent a week looking at the life cycle of the butterfly and also this week the life cycle of a frog. Students decided they wanted to present some of what they had learned at our class assembly.
Here is an example of some work that a couple of students created. They were able to use word cards around the room to independently create pic collages to explain the life cycle of a frog and a butterfly. We used them as part of our assembly presentation. Well done Evie, Hannah, and Subira for your great work.
Watch out for other examples of this work, on our blog!
This weeks 3 Minute Frenzy stars are for great improvement. We are still working on making sure our letters are formed correctly and making sure they were the right way around. It is great to Maunga trying their best to improve on the previous score. Can't wait to see what we can get by the end of the term and by the end of the year! Well done everyone, especially Hannah and Tommy this week. Great work!
On Friday we shared our learning at our assembly.
Here are are our movies that show our space writing that we put onto green screen. Nui wrote about a starry night, Iti were using adjectives to describe the sun. Come into our class and have a look at all our published stories on our writing frames.
In the afternoons Maunga Iti have been working with Team Maunga exploring rocket launches into space. Hannah worked with Harley Barlow, Susanna worked with Kaelan, Tyler worked with Rakai, and Andrew worked with Ivy and Daniel S, to create a Stop Motion of a rocket launch. First they had to create their rockets in the LEGO room. Then we learnt how to take lots of pictures moving our rocket slowly each step. When we played our movie it made our rockets look like they were launching into space all by themselves. This week we are learning about gravity. The children choose the activity they want to do over the week to learn and explore more about our theme.
Today we were lucky to have Hayden visiting us from Duffy Books. He told us all about his experiences as a Director and how it all started by reading 3 books that he issued at his school library.
Hayden told us stories about all of the people he has met, including Harry Potter, Ricky Baker, and the stars of the Hobbit movies. We learnt a lot about green screens, body doubles, and making miniatures.
Thank you Hayden for coming to speak to us this morning.
