Playing around with Thinglink

Today we had were lucky to have Mr Bell come into our classroom to help us learn about the iMac.  Jake and Ella were learning how to transfer images and videos from the iPad onto the iMac.  Well done you two, and thankyou Mr Bell.

Along side this we also had a group of children learning how to use a tool called Thinglink.  This can be use both on Computer as well as on iPad.  We were using iPads today.  Here are some links to ones children created today.  Please bear in mind that this was a first attempt.

Word works.

Today we had a reliever in for Mrs S.  While Mrs G was taking everyone for Word Works, she got her group (us) to recap on our learning from last week, while the rest of the class practiced making and breaking short 'e' words like let, met, pet, peg, meg with her ...  Here are some photos of our independent work.

After these photos were taken, we talked about the words on our list and some changes were made.

Certificate winners in Week 11 Term 1 2016

Below are the winners of Room 5 & 6's certificate winners this week.  We had a number of students who got certificates for excellence in attendance.  Well done, this attendance is what has been helping you reach your learning goals this term.  All of you have made such fantastic progress in all areas.  Mrs Stevenson and I can't wait to see what you can achieve next term!

Bush Walk Cameo - Piata

This week we were planning to do a cameo based around walking up Te Ahu Ahu but it was to wet to go so we created some Cameos based round us going for a walk in the bush area just beside our classroom.  Mrs Gardiner gave us an example that encouraged us to think about what we could see, hear, smell, touch (and taste).  Here is my published story.

Our writing goal today were to make sure we had spaces between words and missing lines.

Healthy lunch boxes

Today we were meant to go for a walk up Te Ahu Ahu Maunga, however it was way to wet and we had to postpone it.  We plan to go Thursday 25th Feb.  As part of this day we were organised to have a healthy lunch box competition.  Check out the video below that shows how clever and healthy the children in room 5 & 6 are.

There were so many fantastic lunch boxes that Mrs S and Mrs G struggled to choose just one winner each.  So they ended up putting the names in a hat, to draw out the winner.  They talked about how some lunch boxes even had lots of re-use-able plastic containers, some of us even talked about how this was better for our environment.
