Recount Story Publishing

Here are some examples of Recounts that have been written this last week.  Super proud of how the children are structuring their writing to include their introduction, body and conclusion.  This helps our children to form a story that is interesting and informative for the people that are reading.  No wonder some of our children are wanting to become authors when they grow up.  Well done everyone.  Keep up the great work.

Week 2 Term 4 Writing Challenge

This week we are back online with our commenting issue sorted.  (Let us know if you are having any issues so we can resolve these as soon as we can).  This weeks writing challenge is a recount challenge with children being asked to create a recount based on something they have done at home with their family.

In class we talk about using the 'Hamburger' when writing a recount.  This means we start with an introduction (bun - a bit boring but needs to be there), then we have the first, next and finally (the good bit in the middle with all the juicy details that make the burger or recount magic), and last but not least we have the conclusion (the bit that ties it all together - often a feeling and include something like "I can't wait until next time").

Have fun and don't forget to email photos or other digital versions of work that you create, or you can just publish a recount in the comments below.

ENJOY!!!

Our new School Pou

Recently we had our new Pou unveiling.  Here is a story that Sienna M made and published using Explain Everything.  The part she enjoyed most was taking and adding pictures.  It was really strange because Mrs G suggested taking these pictures in Portrait rather than Landscape (but they soon worked out why).

Sienna M wanted to share this 'Recount' as it had a clear introduction, sequence and conclusion.

Recounts haven't been our classes focus for a while so Mrs G and Ms F were very proud that Sienna M had remembered to include all these parts of a recount.  Mrs Craig was too.

One thing Sienna M learn't was that she needed to count 1, 2, after she and finished talking so she didn't end up cutting the end off her recording.  Great effort Sienna M.

Elgregor Magic Show

This week we have been trying to use Explain Everything more to create and share our ideas for writing.  Here is an examples of how we have used it this week.  Keep watching out for more examples.

This is a recount that Stella wrote about going to the Elgregor Magic Show.  She was very motivated to write about this because she was chosen to be a helper during the show.

Stella was really excited about her work as well because she knew she had included all the elements for recount writing.  She had her Introduction, Body and Conclusion (we refer to this in class as a hamburger).  What made our class even more proud of Stella is that she did this independently and only had some support in publishing this - mainly because she initially tried publishing in Pic Collage but soon discovered that you couldn't record it.

Great learning all around.  Well done Stella.
