Te Ra O Te Wiki

This week we have been learning the days of the week in Te Reo.  We have been learning the actions to go with it to help us remember.

So...

To help us remember the days of the week, we created a short movie that we can replay to help us.

Mrs G got Matua to help us work out how to convert this into a Matua/Whaea Says (like Simon Says) game which we hope to present at our assembly in Week 2.  Thank you Frank, Liam and Cheyne for volunteering to take on this role in our assembly!  It is a big one.

Here is the words that we will be using to help us practice our days of the week (as well as other actions that we use in our classroom on a daily basis).

Every Tuesday they bring their book bag, return last weeks books, and issue new books to read at home.
Mrs C will be running this challenge again next term. Let's see if we can have an even bigger group of winners next time!

Well done Cheyne, Joel, Asbjorn, Kyle, Laylah, and Mikayla. Keep up the great reading!

Te Ika O Maui

As part of our school wide inquiry Room 5 & 6 have been looking at Myths and Legends.  This week we have been focusing on Te Ika O Maui (The Fish of Maui).

Our accelerated writing group have also been focusing on this as part of their learning.  Here is an explain everything that helped them to get their ideas sorted.  This group of children then shared this with the class to help them with their learning.  Fantastic work.

Here is an example of a year 1's writing that came from this work today.
